Our Principals and Teachers


SUZANNE LIEW

Suzanne Liew, the principal of D’Danze Academy, started her dance training since the tender age of 4, initially with the Federal Academy of Ballet (FAB) and later with Annabelle School of Dancing. Having completed her dance training locally, she had danced professionally as a back-up dancer for the local as well as internationally artists.

In the year 1986, Suzanne Liew started teaching in Changes Ballet and Music School and at the same time do freelance teaching in several schools within the Klang Valley. She later joins the Sayang Dancers under the tutorage of Farah Sulaiman in 1988 where she was involved actively in television as well as corporate stage shows. She then shifted all her students to Danze Pointe in Bukit Maluri in 1998 as there was no longer any potential in Jinjang area and successfully directed a remarkable Danze Spectacular stage performance in 2002 together with Ms. Rowena Yeo, the principal of Danze Pointe.

As a qualified and inspirational ballet teacher for more than two decades, she has proudly trained more than a dozen ballet and trainees teachers who are now qualified teachers and teaching in D’Danze Academy and other various dance and music schools within the Klang Valley. She is currently the London based Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Certificate of Ballet Teaching (CBTS) Practical Teaching Supervisor (PTS), Mentor and also a Tutor handling a few modules in theory and practical catering to train potential trainee teachers.

D’Danze Academy dance studio was established in 2003 and has evolved into one of the foremost dance-training center with the goal of providing excellent training and career opportunities for enthusiastic dancers. Today the Academy is a living testament to the dedication of Suzanne Liew and an affirmation of our commitment to carry on her legacy of professionalism. Our goal in D’Danze Academy is to help students discover their potential, provide the knowledge and training to fulfill their dreams and inspire in them a deep love of dance that they can carry with them wherever they go.

CATHERINE NG YEE HEONG

Catherine has been teaching ballet for more than 15 years in several schools within the Kepong vicinity. Besides that, she also teaches Latin & Belly Dancing. Due to her artistic inclination, she is also an accomplished pianist and teaches piano during the weekends. She holds the Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies from Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), London.

Catherine has always been enthusiastic in dancing, having taken part in several classical ballet solo competitions organized by The Dance Society of Malaysia in her younger days. She now actively competes in Latin Dance and has won numerous competitions. She is involved in various performances and also choreographs for events and corporate shows such as ‘Soft-land Breast Cancer Charity’ as well as wedding and anniversary shows.

Catherine performed in a pas de deux in ‘Dancing Thru Broadway’ a musical directed by Malaysia’s renowned dance choreographer Farah Dato’ Seri Sulaiman in year 2008. She was also invited as a dance adjudicator by Catholic High School in Petaling Jaya in their “CHS Dance Extravaganza 2013”. She founded Fusion Dance & Music Academy in May 2011.

Catherine is an Insurance Agent with AIA. She just completed a course in Professional Make-Up in April 2014 and is now actively involved as a make-up artist with ONE FM, 8TV, NTV7 represented by Backstage Academy.

MIMI ONG SUET LEE

Suet Lee or Mimi started ballet training at the age of 6 under the tutelage of Ms. Suzanne Liew. She progressed quickly and completed her ISTD Intermediate in 2002 and RAD Advanced 2 in 2003. She has also completed her Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) by Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), London in 2009. Juggling between her career and family, she has been with D ’Danze Academy as a ballet teacher for more than 12 years.

She has participated in several ballet solo competitions organized by The Dance Society of Malaysia. She and her teaching partners will uncover more and more hidden talent in their students to bring ballet to another level.

OOI MEE KEAN

Mee Kean started ballet training at the age of 8 under the tutelage of Ms. Suzanne Liew. Apart from classical ballet, she is also trained in hip hop, jazz, ballroom and belly dance. Mee Kean has been teaching ballet for 11 years and currently teaches in D ’Danze Academy in Bandar Sri Damansara and D’ Danze Center in Bandar Country Homes Rawang.

Mee Kean is also capable of teaching creative dancing for children and she also actively directs and choreographs concert dances for various kindergartens. From year 2003 to 2010, Mee Kean was involved as choreographer for various fund raising charity events by Kiwanis, Beautiful Gate for the Disabled and Autism Association, to name a few. She also choreographs short dances for wedding dinners, and has participated as a dancer in “Thrill the World 2010”, an event held in conjunction with Halloween.

She is a qualified teacher with a Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) by Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), London and co-founded Danze Designer a dance studio and a dance event company in Desa Sri Hartamas in 2013.

DIANNE YAP SIN WEI

Dianne began her journey as a choreographer and fusion dance teacher 10 years ago. She started performing at the age of 6. Stage has then become her life learning platform. She persevered throughout her studies at the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet Graded Syllabus Examination as well as for the major Grades Examination under the guidance of Ms. Rowena Yeo and later with Ms. Suzanne Liew.

Although primarily trained in classical ballet, her passion for dancing has led her to explore various dance facets, incorporating a myriad of styles ranging from Classical Ballet to Jazz, Latin, Salsa, Contemporary, Cultural, and Creative dance. She was the choreographer, poster designer, audio editor and director of numerous dance Acts since 2006. She organized dance events for charity, corporate and wedding since 2007 and danced in ‘Dansing Thru Broadway musical’ in 2008. She was glad to be the Project Manager of “Thrill The World 2010” International MJ simultaneous dance event, Malaysia first attempt to break world record.

Dianne co-founded Danze Designer, a dance studio cum dance event Company in Desa Sri Hartamas in 2013. She is a qualified instructor of Association of Dance Therapists (INT’L), UK and undertaking the International Dance Teaching Standard, a Teaching Certification Course from Canada. Dianne also holds a Bachelor Degree in IT from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

WONG YEE NYEAN

Yee Nyean started her formal ballet education at the age of five with Ms Rowena Yeo and later with Ms Suzanne Liew throughout the Vocational Levels. Apart from ballet, Yee Nyean is also trained in tap and jazz in her late teenage years where she completed all six levels of the Imperial Society of Teachers’ Dancing (ISTD), Popular Tap Tests Levels with Distinction.

Yee Nyean holds a degree in Accounting and Business Law from Monash University. Her self-discipline, passion and interest in teaching have enabled her to juggle between her demanding career as an accountant and her part time ballet teaching for the past 12 years.

Under the mentorship of Ms Suzanne Liew, Yee Nyean is now a qualified and registered ballet teacher with Royal Academy of Dance. Yee Nyean freelances in various dance schools in the Klang Valley, namely, Danze Pointe Music & Dance School, D’Danze Academy and MyBallet School in Arkadia.

WONG HUNG PENG

Hung Peng started ballet lessons under Ms. Suzanne Liew at the age of 10. For a late starter, she progress quickly taking two levels in a year until she completed her RAD Advanced 1 in the year 1996. Hung Peng graduated from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, Kuala Lumpur and holds a Diploma in Business Studies. During her university years, she also worked part time as a ballet teacher to gain practical teaching experience.

She is now a qualified registered teacher with a Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) by Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), London. To date, Hung Peng has taught for more than 12 years in several studios within Klang Valley namely D’Danze Academy and Euphony Musical Sdn Bhd in Cheras.

At the beginning of 2013, Hung Peng founded DanceMates Ballet Academy in Taman Gembira, Kuala Lumpur, a dance studio exclusively for ballet training. In spite of her tight schedule, she still finds time to teach. Dance and sometimes choreograph for concerts and corporate shows.

VICTORIA LAU SAUNG NEE

Victoria started ballet at the age of 9 under Ms. Suzanne Liew and later joined The Chinese Association dance group to improve her dance knowledge. Upon completing her secondary education, she became a part-time kindergarten teacher to gain more knowledge and experience working with children.

In year 2001, she joined Tina Chen School of Dancing in Shenzhen, China under the tutelage of Ms. Tina Chen for a 3-year full time professional ballet teaching course. During that tenure, she has taught in several dance studios in Shenzhen & Beijing and she also had the opportunity to learn from Mr. Kenneth Kwong who is the Artistic Director of Inspired Dance Company of Hong Kong. She graduated in year 2004 and returned to Malaysia to start her ballet teaching profession. Currently she teaches ballet in several schools in Puchong, Petaling Jaya, and Klang.

From time to time, she also actively participates in dance workshops and dance courses, organized locally and internationally. In the year 2010, she joined Hong Kong and Indonesia

South East Asian Dance Troupe, Christian Dance Fellowship of Malaysia (CDFM).She was the Stage Manager for “Savour the Asian Heritage”, a dance production which was staged in KLPAC, Penang, Taiping and Ipoh.

Victoria is a qualified teacher with RAD in ballet, ISTD in National Character & Ballroom Dancing, Beijing Dance Academy in Chinese Dance and Children Creative Dance.

ALICIA THOOI JIA YEN

Alicia began her ballet training at the age of six under the guidance of Ms. Rowena Yeo, later continuing her training with Ms. Suzanne Liew through the Vocational Levels. She achieved significant milestones in her ballet journey, completing her Advanced 1 with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in 2006 and with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in 2008. Alongside her training, Alicia participated in several solo ballet competitions organized by The Dance Society of Malaysia.

In December 2011, she ventured into choreography for the production “Danze Adventure.” Currently, Alicia teaches children aged 3 to 15 at D’Danze Academy, sharing her passion for dance. To further enhance her qualifications, she obtained the Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in London in 2019.

Beyond ballet, Alicia explored ballroom dancing under the tutelage of Mr. Reinhalt Maria Polt. She showcased her talents at the “Viennese Debutante Ball” in Kuala Lumpur in October 2008 and performed at the “Viennese Opern Ball” in Vienna, Austria, in February 2009.

Alicia holds a Bachelor of Communications (Hons.) with a specialization in Public Relations from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. She currently occupies the role of Public Relations liaison for D’Danze Academy and D’Danze Center, seamlessly integrating her expertise in dance and communications.
